County Hwy D in Bayfield County

This post has nada to do with weddings or portraits, but I LOVE this road!  I have a thing for backroads and county blacktop :).  I get it from my father - we actually danced our "Father-Daughter" dance at Jim & I's wedding to "I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar.  My husband is a police officer, so his guests (mostly cops) pretty much stood there with their mouths hanging open...  :). Te he he Anyway, I digress...

Here is County Hwy D on Sunday - it was gorgeous, and the snow was amazing on the trees! I was heading out to Lakewoods Resort in Cable to get some very fun engagement photos with Annie and Scott - more of those later!














The highway goes right through the Chequamegon forest and the Great Divide...









Lakewoods was a little frozen!

Mt. Olivet Minneapolis Wedding | One Brave Bride!

I have been accepted into the Artistic Guild Of Wedding Photojournalists!

I kind of announced this this past summer, however I had weddings coming out my ears (which I love!), so I didn't make a big deal about it.

Did you know I am one of only FIVE photographers in the State of Wisconsin who has been accepted into the Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalists?

This is the description of the Guild:

"The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association [AG]WPJA is a group of international wedding photojournalists, who capture unscripted wedding moments as they happen, and excel in the art of post-production image processing. The [AG]WPJA is a division within the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA); one which specifically promotes Fine Art Wedding Photojournalism"

When I realized there were so few of us, I was very excited :).

Bayfield Wedding | Leah & Clarke at the Chateau Boutin!

This is Leah & Clarke's gorgeous Bayfield wedding!  They were married at the beautiful Chateau Boutin that looks right over the Bayfield waterfront. I photographed Leah getting ready in the suite with her mom.  Her mom sewed her dress AND her shoes! Seriously, they are stunning.

The ceremony itself was outside in the gazebo of the Chateau.  The shot of the flowergirl walking up is one of my favorites, she looks beautiful!  By the way, Leah sewed the flower girl's dress.  I am so jealous of some people's crafting ability :).

 

At the end of the day we wandered around Bayfield to get photos in a bunch of locations!  I had a TON of fun with these two.  You should check out Leah's company:  http://www.otb-games.com/.  No wonder she is so fun :)

Christmas Cookies in Bayfield!

Big Water Cafe and Coffee Roasters had their first annual holiday cookie decorating party this past weekend.  It was FABULOUS!  Brie made her Grandmother's cookie recipe and we had a blast spreading icing all over:).  My husband is MUCH better at it than I am, but I think the kid with the icing all over his face had the best attitude!

 
It got a bit messy...

But then there were the "perfectionists"  ;)

I love their mocha's too :)

Bayfield Portrait Photographer | Ashley's "Senior" Photos

This is my friend Ashley - I actually met her this summer while she was a barista at my favorite coffee place Big Water Coffee in Bayfield (oh my - that's a whole lot of "b's"...  She is a senior at Northland College, and never had her senior photos taken in high school, so we did some fun "senior" shots around Bayfield!

Ashley is a peace studies major - so this was appropriate :)



...and one of her favorite books is The Awakening, which is one of mine as well!





We then went to the gorgeous Carnegie Library in Bayfield







And then to the Iron Bridge, where Ashley & I decided it was time for a little Mary Tyler Moore action :)





Next up beach prego photos, a candlelight ceremony in 40 mph winds, and a scarecrow bridesmaid!

Anyone need a wedding photographer in Banff ?

The wonderful, fabulous work of Catkins - and the incredible generosity of Fifield Seed & Feed

This is not a new wedding post - I actually shot Laura & Tyler's wedding a few years ago, and they have been up to very very cool things since!

Laura founded Catkins Animal Rescue in the Park Falls/Fifield area - here is a link to her Petfinder page, and her website.  Basically I am obsessed with promoting animal rescues, and hers is a fabulous one.

It turns out the people at Fifield Feed & Seed think so too!  They just donated 500 POUNDS of cat litter and 400 pounds of cat food to the shelter!  PLEASE check out their website, and if you live in the area - buy from them!

Stockton Island Adventure!

My husband and I decided to enjoy one of the last of the beautiful fall days by taking a trip out on our boat into the Apostle Islands. We fished a bit and then wandered around Stockton Island for a few minutes.  I have never been on the island, so I was SUPER excited.  If anyone wants to get married out on one of them let me know!!!!!!  :) te he he

I love this photo because it is SO TRUE! Weather here changes in an instant, so you have to be careful.
